In January, a pair of Variegated Fairywrens (Malurus lamberti) were flying between the remnant bush and the back yard of the house we were in at Narooma, NSW. The birds mainly stayed in shrubs and bushes looking for small insects but would fly low over the 10 metres separating the house from the bush.
